Maths

Many student have a love-hate relationship with maths and generally that’s because of the way it is taught. We don’t all learn the same way, so teaching should be tailored accordingly. Like English, maths is one of the important subjects that allows our children more choice when moving onto further education, and not only that, but it is needed in adulthood too (even if we are allowed a calculator).

I like to break sections down, use everyday terminology until a concept is grasped, and additionally use colours or interactive resources to aid learning and make the subject feel more fun. Once that mental barrier has been broken, then progress can be made across the maths spectrum.

I teach maths to children aged 4-16, covering all topics in the year 6 SATs, GCSE and functional skills exams.
